This year the FSC celebrates it’s 70th anniversary, the FSC was founded in 1943 when a group of prominent naturalists gathered at London’s Natural History museum to realise a vision “to provide opportunities for school children to study living plants and animals in their natural environment.” Since then, it has opened 17 centres around the UK offering a range of courses. Kindrogan is the only FSC cente in Scotland and was the first field centre in Scotland. This year it turns 50, so we have a double whammy of celebrations.
Based in the grand 18th-century Kindrogan House, the centre offers enviromental education and eco-adventure courses for a wide range of ages and abilities – from Outdoor Classroom days for school groups and natural history courses for individuals and families, to professional development for those working in the environment and education.
Kindrogan will host two open days in July : the FSC 70th Anniversary Open Day on the 27th of July and the British Ecological Society Open Day on the 31st of July. Both days will give individuals and families the chance to join a range of fun, educational activities such as river study , pond dipping , zip lining and a ropes course. Overnight accommodation is available.
