This morning on a beautifully calm morning in Millport a group of students from Robert Gordon’s College Aberdeen set off to sea on FSC Millport’s research vessel. Within the first few minutes we had a glimpse of a seal and so our adventure began.
The students got to see trawling machinery in action as it collected a diverse range of marine life for lab analysis. As the nets came up it was clear to see we would not be disappointed as numerous crabs, flat fish , starfish to name a few were dropped onto the deck. Students got the chance to observe these animals up close and take some of them back to shore for later sessions our labs.
The boat trip was a great experience for the students to get an idea of how research vessels operate and to get a glimpse into the diverse life of the Firth of Clyde, and one that was enjoyed by students and teachers alike.
