Upkeep of Millport centre’s boat takes dedication and hours of work! Preparations for a new year of exploring the Clyde on our research vessel Actinia are currently ongoing.
Our team have been busy carrying out boat maintenance. The hull has received a new lick of antifouling paint keeping her free from barnacles, algae and other marine life. Keeping the creatures off reduces drag and saves fuel. Repairs to the trawl net have been made and the engines serviced.
Each year the boat requires new anodes as they erode over time- today they have been replaced and are ready for action. Actinia is an absolute asset to the center and it’s working is of the up most importance to us. The boat crew and all of us here cannot wait to get out onto the water again with all our 2016 courses!
